The beauty of Giving Tuesday is that it can be recognized and celebrated on any scale. Giving Tuesday, a global generosity movement, was born out of a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. This concept, originating in 2012 by New York's 92nd Street Y, has grown into a worldwide philanthropic endeavor, celebrated annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving in the United States.
We at Day+West love any opportunity to celebrate kindness in our community. On this Giving Tuesday we want to highlight and recognize two cherished non-profits - Mental Health America and 1% for the planet.
Mental Health America, founded in 1909, is dedicated to addressing the needs of those living with mental illness and promoting the overall mental health of all. As the nation's leading community-based nonprofit in this field, MHA's mission is deeply rooted in prevention, early identification, and intervention through advocacy, education, research, and services. Their work encompasses a broad spectrum, from offering resources for mental health conditions to advocating for policy changes that make mental health care more accessible and equitable.
The mission of 1% for the Planet is to build, support, and activate an alliance of businesses financially committed to creating a healthy planet. They recognize that environmental health is critical to our overall well-being and are dedicated to tackling issues like climate change, pollution, and wildlife conservation. Through this commitment, they aim to foster a culture of responsibility towards the environment, encouraging sustainable practices and long-term thinking.
Both of these organizations are near and dear to Day+West's heart - and we cherish what they give all year long, locally and globally.
